Inherited Weight

Inspired by Talli making, a traditional Emirati textile craft, this project explores the concept of inherited weight. The multiple spools and hanging threads from the pillow evoke a sense of burden, much like the familial and societal legacies we carry. These inherited weights shape identity through memory, history, and generational obligations. Just as Talli outlines traditional garments, our inherited experiences define the margins of who we are. Through self-awareness and introspection, we navigate, challenge, or embrace these legacies, allowing for personal growth and the reshaping of ingrained narratives.
